The Current Account Switch Service makes switching from one UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man bank or building society to another simple and stress-free.

The service is available to consumers, small businesses, charities and trusts and allows you to choose a switch date that suits you.

Days 1 & 2

Our Current Account Switch service team will speak to your old bank and ensure everything is ready for the switch to go ahead.

Days 3 to 5

We open your new account and set up your payments. Your Direct Debits and standing orders will be moved across.

Day 6

With everything secured in your new account, we’ll contact your old bank and start transferring your balance over.

Day 7

On this final day your balance should be fully transferred over and your old account will be closed.

Important information

We recommend that you read these documents before contacting us to start the switch.

The benefits of switching

  • All your payments (in and out) will be moved to your new account.
  • Any remaining credit balance in your old account will be transferred to your new account and your old account will automatically close.
  • If any payments are made accidentally to your old account after your switch date, they’ll be automatically redirected or forwarded to your new account indefinitely.
  • The switch process will be managed entirely by your new bank or building society and will be backed by the Current Account Switch Guarantee.
